Is SortStops free?
Yes. SortStops is a completely free route planner — no subscription, no trial, and nothing to install.
Do I need an account?
No. There's no login and no sign-up. You enter your stops, sort them, and go.
How does the route optimization work?
We send your stops to Google's routing engine — the same one behind Google Maps — which finds the order with the least driving and returns real distances and times. Your first stop stays the start (round trips loop back to it; one-way trips end at your last stop). Then you open it in Google Maps for turn-by-turn directions.
How many stops can I add?
Up to 25 places per route. For longer trips, split them into a couple of shorter routes.
Can Google Maps optimize the order of multiple stops?
Not by itself. Google Maps keeps stops in the order you add them and won't reorder them for speed. SortStops finds the fastest order first, then hands the finished route to Google Maps for navigation.
Does it find the shortest or the fastest route?
SortStops optimizes for the least total driving time using real road distances, which is usually also close to the shortest route between your addresses.
